From suburban England through war-torn alien landscapes and into a deadly, artificial dimension, all these Doctors and their companions must struggle against the power of an unfathomable, alien technology.

Current Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat is joined by actors from Doctor Who's storied past including Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville and others to look back at the unique characteristics that make each actor's portrayal a thrilling new adventure. And each retrospective is followed by one full story for each Doctor, including Earthshock, Vengeance on Varos, Remembrance of the Daleks, and Doctor Who: The Movie, presented in both widescreen, feature-length version and in its episodic, original format. Richelle Mead, author of the Vampire Academy and Bloodline series, explains why she was delighted to be asked to write an EBook for Doctor Who. Mead, explains why she was inspired by professional and personal reasons to invent a wild new adventure for the Sixth Doctor.

The wonderful Doctor Who fansite WhovianNet is celebrating the Sixth Doctor throughout June. View their special page, with features and much more, by clicking below.

Bestselling American fantasy author Richelle Mead has been announced as the author of the sixth exclusive Doctor Who ebook short from Puffin. Her short story, called Something Borrowed, features the Sixth Doctor and Peri:

A wedding on the planet Koturia turns out to be a far more dangerous proposition than the Sixth Doctor and Peri ever expected. It marks the return of a formidable old foe whose genius matches the Doctor’s. Can the Doctor outwit this villain, save Peri and stop the wedding in time?

Richelle Mead commented: "I’ve always loved watching Colin Baker as the Doctor. When he’s on the screen, you can’t take your off eyes off of him - and no, I’m not just talking about his infamous wardrobe! Everything him about is larger than life: his personality, his ingenuity, his biting humour. He’s one of the darker of the Doctors, and yet through it all, that heroism and need to do what’s right never fails. That’s what makes him so fascinating to me. It’s an author’s dream to be able to write with a character like that."

Richelle Mead is best known for her urban fantasy series: Vampire Academy, Georgina Kincaid, and Dark Swan. Originally from Michigan, she now lives in Seattle, Washington with her family, and is working on Vampire Academy spin-off, Bloodlines.

Something Borrowed follows on from short stories by Eoin Colfer, Michael Scott, Marcus Sedgwick, Philip Reeve and Patrick Ness. A paperback anthology of the eleven eshorts, The Doctor Who Collection: 50th Anniversary will publish, alongside the final eshort featuring the Eleventh Doctor, on 23 November 2013. The ebook will be available to download from June 23. You can pre-order from Amazon (

The Official BBC Doctor Who Facebook page, which has almost three-and-a-half million fans, and Doctor Who TV, the Official website for the 50th Anniversary, are both celebrating all things Sixth this month.

"This is a situation that requires tact and finesse. Fortunately, I am blessed with both."

It’s the sixth month of the year which means - Sixth Doctor. Find out more about him, his adventures and foes on doctorwho.tv throughout this month.

Never understated, the Sixth Doctor was an explosion of colours, words and emotions. Passionate, sometimes quick to anger, this was a Doctor you did not want to make enemies with. He tangled with the corporate greed of the slimy Sil, took H.G. Wells on a trip to a strange world of Morlox and time machines, and defeated the amoral Gallifreyan scientist known only as the Rani. Once again, the Doctor’s interference in the affairs of other worlds resulted in a trial by his own people, and his own darker side, “The Valeyard” – who stood to gain all his remaining incarnations. After uncovering the Valeyard’s schemes, all charges were dropped, and the Doctor and Mel headed off in the TARDIS.

The 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who continues to be celebrated, via classic stories, in Australia and New Zealand on UKTV. The channel begins airing Sixth Doctor episodes from 2nd June with Attack Of The Cybermen.

In New Zealand the story screens at 4:25pm and in Australia at 4:30pm. New Zealand has an additional screening on Monday 3rd June at 4:40am.

The UKTV billing describes Attack of the Cybermen as follows: While trying to fix the TARDIS's chameleon circuit, the Sixth Doctor returns to Foreman's Yard on Totter's Lane in 1985, where he meets his old enemies the Cybermen.

BBC AMERICA celebrates the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker, in a new special of Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited. Baker played the part from 1984 to 1986. The special begins with Colin Baker, lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat, Sixth Doctor companions Nicola Bryant (Peri Brown) and Bonnie Langford (Mel Bush), among others, examining the Sixth Doctor’s adventures and discussing his famous foes, including the universe’s most slippery business man, Sil.

The special also includes the Sixth Doctor story Vengeance on Varos, in which the Doctor visits the planet Varos to obtain the rare ore Zeiton-7, vital to the functioning of his TARDIS. But Varos is a dangerous place, where rebels are tortured on live television and executions are used to win votes from the public. Trapped in the dreaded Punishment Dome, the Doctor and his companion Peri must fight for their lives - and save the starving population from the machinations of the villainous reptilian Sil.

BBC Books have revealed details on a new book being released to mark the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who.

"I'm the Doctor. I’m a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. And I'm the man who’s going to save your life."

He's made a mark on almost every era of history, and he’s touched millions of lives across space and time. In these pages you'll find just some of the stories behind those brief encounters, each of them addressing the question that must never, ever be answered: "Doctor Who?"

This is the story of an impossible life – of a man who borrowed a spaceship, travelled through time and continually saved the universe - as told by the Doctor's friends, by his enemies, and by the man himself. Letters, journals, trial records, secret government files and the occasional bit of tabloid journalism reveal the never-before-told story of Gallifrey's last Time Lord.

Contributors to His Lives and Times include: Colin Baker, John and Carole E. Barrowman, Tim Berners-Lee, Nicholas Briggs, Jenna Coleman, Paul Cornell, Rusell T Davies, Peter Davison, Terrance Dicks, Neil Gaiman, Mark Gatiss, Waris Hussein, Bonnie Langford, Paul McGann, Steven Moffat, Matt Smith, Laila Ward and Marcus Wilson. A look back at the Sixth Doctor battling the Cybermen in a new article by Doctor Who TV.

Attack of the Cybermen Retrospective

Back in the 80s, this story was the poster child along with Vengeance on Varos and The Two Doctors for being too-violent. This and other factors started a chain of events that would ultimately cancel Doctor Who until its brief resurrection in 1996. However, this story, if given the chance, is actually one of the better episodes. Let’s see why… This might sound outlandish, but this was my first Classic Doctor Who story and indeed, became one of my favorites for so many reasons. Actually, this IS my favorite Classic! It’s up there, topping Castrovalva, Black Orchid and Ghost Light. It introduced me to Colin Baker’s Doctor, who was so radically different to David Tennant’s that I wondered if I was indeed watching the same show. Colin’s portrayal was loud, jerk-ass and so egotistical. How could I not love him? This story alone made Baker my favorite Doctor and I wouldn’t even be born for another five years!

An interesting, and comprehensive, retrospective on the Sixth Doctor by the fantastic Who site Doctor Who TV.

John Hussey continues his monthly retrospective, this time looking at the 6th Doctor, Colin Baker.

The Sixth Doctor showcased one of the biggest character changes within the Doctor’s lifespan. The darkness within the Time Lord really started to show from his sixth incarnation onwards. The Sixth Doctor was very angry, moody and full of arrogance, sometimes becoming almost full of himself. His adventurous side still remained but it seemed during his earlier life he was more selfish, especially when it came to decision making. Doctor Who: Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann confirm anniversary special non-involvement

Shooting on the 50th special is currently under way in Britain - but the three actors are 10,000 miles away, in Australia

Former Doctor Who stars Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann have revealed that they definitely won’t be appearing in the BBC sci-fi drama’s upcoming 50th anniversary episode, largely because they're currently in the wrong hemisphere.

The anniversary special is being filmed in this country as we speak, but seeing as the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors are all in Australia attending sci-fi conventions at the moment, they won’t be able to take part.

The three actors appeared today on the Australian chat-show Mornings and, during a discussion about Doctor Who, put paid to the idea that they might yet appear in the anniversary episode.

COLIN'S WHO 30 21.02.2013
We haven't forgotten here at CBO that 2013 is not only the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who but also the 30th anniversary of Colin Baker's involvement starting with his appearances as Gallfreyan guard Commander Maxil in Arc Of Infinity. That same year (1983) also saw the announcement that he would be assuming the role of the Sixth Doctor. Can it really be thirty years ago? Time flies, especially for a Time Lord. I'm sure you will all agree that Colin's contribution to the TV show, audios, conventions and many other additional projects connected with the show over the past three decades has seen him established as a veritable WHO legend. Congratulations Colin, you truly are one of Gallifrey's greats.

The CBO Type 40 capsule is spinning in the Vortex heading towards 2013... and the 50th anniversary of the best television show EVER. The Sixth Doctor is on board ready for the celebrations. Geronimo !
